The first ever IP dial-tone for the vendors in the show floor is showcased as the USA's largest networks conference and exposition begins.
Amazing that nobody ever thought of it or delivered on it before. A completely reliable, highly secure logical network for ~100 IP phones on the show floor, ~100 IP phones in conference rooms and show management offices. Applications include dial-tone, auto attendant, directory, IP conferencing and IP messaging services.
Worthwhile experiment in engineering and application. Will the trade show users actually use their phones? Will the long distance capacity exceed expectations, or not?
How can communications services in a booth at a trade show help the show organizers? vendors? Is it a public safety service?
Networld+Interop opened on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 here in Las Vegas. Last week Spain, this week Nevada. IP Telephony rocks!
